First Aid Response (FAR)

From January 2019 First Aid Response is the only first aid course that will be accepted by the pre-school inspector for the purpose of compliance. The First Aid Response (FAR) was developed by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) and must be delivered by a training provider approved by PHECC.

Only one FAR trained person is required to be on the premises at any time however proportionally more will be required in bigger services which are yet to be confirmed.

Louth County Childcare Committee recommend that there should be one trained person per room.

The certificate expires after 2 years at which time candidates may recertify.

From Sept 2017 – staff undertaking first aid training for the first time must undertake FAR.

Staff wishing to renew their qualification must undertake FAR training.

Certification for refresher training up to August 2017 will be accepted until January 2019.
